All my life,as long as I could remember playing in a tournament I have always gets stuck in semi finals of a football tournament..

Here are the timelines of semifinals.

1)1998(School years): Lost 1-0 to Smileordie fc during the semifinal of I-cant-remember-the-name tournament.

2)2001(College years): Lost 2-0 to Harimau Brantai fc during the semifinal of KYPM's 2001 football tournament.

3)2002(College years): Lost 2-0 to Red Scud fc during the semifinal of KYPM's 2002 football tournament.

4)2009(Working years): Lost 1-0 to MKM fc during the semifinal of KPDNKK's 2010 football tournament.

5)2009(Working years): Lost 4-0 to a Finexys from Sarawak(They have Bobby Pian and Ramles/Ramos Sari in the team!!) during the semifinal of Borneo Cup 2009/2010.

6)2011(Working years): Lost 3-0 to PNS fc during the semifinal of KPDNKK's 2011 football tournament.

Timelines of actually surpassing the semi final curse:

1)2003(College years)-1st Runners up of KYPM's 2002 football tournament.

2)2006(College years)-Champions of MMU's 2006 Interfaculties Cup.

3)2008(College years)-Champions of MMU's 2008 Champions League Cup.

4)2010(Working years): Champions of SSM's 2010 Interdivisons Cup.

And as annoying as it is, today I come to realized that each time the curse befalls on my team is when we tend to underestimate or overestimate our semifinal opponents.

From now on, I shall treat the semifinal's opponent with the same respect I had for the other team during the groups stage.

Not too high but not too low, a normal kind of respect. InsyaAllah, the next time. I shall beat u Semifinals Curse!

In relevance to the title, I am announcing my retirement as a Dettol fc player this time for good as I realized that its time to progress with my life. But as a Dettolian, I will bear the passion and carry the memories we had with my head held high.

Recalling the first time I met Amir Tevez,the founder of the team. I was frustrated at that time about previous teams I've joined and I was offered to join a team that frankly speaking, were playing their football half as bad as a shattered glass on the floor. But, one thing interesting about this team is that how bad they kena lauk or kitai . They will always gets back up and fight back the next season..

Why is this so? half of the credit should go to the infamous Amir Tevez.. Oh Yes..U heard me..Amir.. ^_^

Personally I think he is one of the many unsung hero for the team and arguably for the MMU football scene.. Despite his controversy with everyone else, he is actually the type of player who would starve for the team survival. Believe me or not, he has the character like the Caragher.

And also back then we have Shea, the most faithful fe,male *cough* fan I've ever met. Never before I met a guyrl *cough* who has the deepest passion towards a team rather than a player. She didn't see herself as a WAG who most of the time on the sideline cheering without knowing a clue of whats going on. She was always there for the team.. Good job done Puan Sri!

And not to mention the contributions of these players like Wan Bonjo,Asharvin(my best striking partner),Shahir, Jerry, Apa, Ah Kit, Song Wei, Roy, Big Jo, Dinie, Shawn & etc who back then were "the spines of the team". Relentlessly trying to push themselves for this team improvement. You guys have my utmost respect.

We were a laughing stock back then but despite all the bollockings,we kept pushing and shoving until we actually made it as a Champions League winner.

With the inclusions of caliber players in Adli, Hanafi, Anis, Luqman, Reza and Eng How completes the pieces of the jigsaw to make this team among the best team in MMU.

Others may mock me by saying the title was won by luck but I doubt that because we didn't just sit back and watch our team goes on a winning streak. We fought hard for it, motivated by the annoyance of being labeled as "mediocre" and guess what? the mediocrity surpassed the self confessed extraordinary.

To all the new players, u all have the qualities to be the best but if u want to be more than that..Your loyalty to the team will help you achieve the greatness that will elevate your status to a "legend".

With all that, I just wanna say that I will not only miss playing with this team..

I will also miss the determination and the emotions of the faces that colors this terrific adventure of us along the way..
Goodbye guys..Cava Merci for all the great memories..

Menon! Menon!

Happy Ramadan to all... :D it seems that this Ramadan can be quite cool because recently its always raining day and night. So in a way we can actually avoid the torment of the turbulent heat and humidity of Malaysia the truly Asia and by His will, may thy shalt fullfill thy holy purpose, Amin.."

Ok, now proceeding with what I've planned to write, I dont know if u noticed this before or u just likes to be ignorant but have u heard a word "Menon" on the field?..Menon? yes! Menon! What is that??..

I mean yah I know it meant to warn your teammate that opponent player(s) nearby and he(your teammate) might get kicked and whacked if he doesnt pass you the ball soon enough or sometimes a teammate just simply shout that to make sure u give the ball to them eventho there's no one near u. I am not the latter though..honest.. :P
But for all that, I often wonder where the fish did "Menon" came from?

I tried "binging"(new microsoft search engine) the word online and found most of the results actually to an Indian family name, Menon which means "accounting or exalted". Which doesn't really make any sense to relate it to football.

"Menon" is not the only commonly used shouts on the field, below I put a list I could think of of famous shouts that some of u might have heard or unheard of:

-50 sen = haha u 've been nutmeg.
-It's not hand Ref! it's ARM! = Zzzz...
-Through! through!= usually used by "overexcited-love-to-act-like-a-coach spectator"
-5 ringgit = got nutmeg again,what a loser.
-Ole!=Nike advert version of 50 sen.
-Awak Ref ker saya Ref?=Common respond from referees.
-Banyak sangat tuh!= used by annoyed teammates towards "C.Ronaldo" posers..
-Patahkan jer kaki die!= used by fans who normally brave among the crowds but cowers when he's alone.

But despite all that, the best shout ever is still...

Is our referee's quality that bad?

In the wake of numerous complains abt refereeing quality for MMU league games. I had to personally agreed on the lack of quality in terms of their control of the game. Witnessing what happened during yesterday's game (HERE), a lot of bad decisions has been done resulting players to revolt and almost started a fist-fighting frenzy against each other.
It is fully understandable that everyone will backup their own team and will not tolerate against the opposition thus it is utterly most important for the refs to bring the tensions down by officiating the necessary action.
If I recalled correctly..a lot of fouls has not been treated correctly and misscommunication between referee and his assistants happened very frequent.

By refering to below guide, I would say a lot of these rules were not applied properly during yesterday's game.

Direct free kick offenses

A player commits a foul by tripping an opponent

A direct free kick offense occurs when a player commits any of the following in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

Kicking or attempting to kick an opponent
Tripping or attempting to trip an opponent
Jumping at an opponent
Charging an opponent
Striking or attempting to strike an opponent
Pushing an opponent
Tackling an opponent

Or commits (one of) the following offenses:

Holding an opponent
Spitting at an opponent
Handling the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area).

Handling the ball is deemed to be deliberate if the referee believes that the player attempted to control the ball with the hand or any part of the arm ("hand-to-ball"). If the ball strikes the hand or arm of a player inadvertently then it is not deemed an offense ("ball-to-hand").

If a direct free kick offense occurs within a team's own penalty area it becomes punishable by a penalty kick, irrespective of the position of the ball, provided the ball was in play.

[edit] Indirect free kick offenses

Fouls punishable by an indirect free kick are:

When a goalkeeper, inside his own penalty area:
- takes more than six seconds while controlling the ball with his hands before releasing it from his possession
- touches the ball again with his hands after it has been released from his possession and has not touched any other player
- touches the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked to him by a team-mate
- touches the ball with his hands after he has received it directly from a throw-in by a team-mate

When any player in the opinion of the referee:
- plays in a dangerous manner
- impedes the progress of an opponent
- prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball from his hands
- commits any other offense, not previously mentioned in Law 12, for which play is stopped to caution or dismiss a player.

[edit] Advantage

According to Law 5 of the Laws, the referee should allow play to continue when the team against which an offense has been committed will benefit from such an advantage. The referee indicates this by calling "advantage" and extending both arms in front of his body.

This means that a foul will not be called if the referee feels that letting play continue is more advantageous to the fouled team than stopping play for a free kick. However, if the anticipated advantage does not ensue at that time, the referee may then stop play and penalize the original offense.

Yerp, the MMU football season has started again. Most of us has been craving for football actions since EPL,La Liga, Serie A players are taking their rest in June, chilling in some beautiful island and enjoying the accompany of their superbly hot WAG.
And as for reigning champions Dettol fc, its their first season without their screaming captain Amer Tevez who I hope will not make his comeback(rumoured to be) as it will only spoil his retirement celebrations which ended in great style. However,he's always welcome to sit on the bench to watch(or scream :P) whenever he's feels to and offer advice such as pep talks before and after the game. Yerp, his pep talks was actually missed given to what had happened after the game vs Black Emperor. we dont actually have someone who can give "kritikan yg membina" towards the team. Honest!
In other areas, Shawn has become a judas by leaving the team for a higher pay. Why Shawn?? Why??...*sigh..I guess good players will always go for a better club..Well,I wish him all the best and THANK YOU for his contribution especially for those crucial goal last season.
Goodnews is we have Asharvin back, the current club top scorer has finally recovered from his injury and a new left back, Farhan to strengthen our defence since the departure of Eng How, Song Wei and Roy. Signed on loan from Malacca, he's expected to be the temporary "messiah" replacing the current hole left behind. Also, we welcome all the new players like Rom, Faiq, Wan and the rest. They all are capable players who we hope can help Dettol continues its fine form.
This article is getting longer and before the readers are tired reading..lets end this with passion.
Goodluck Dettol! & may we perform better than we were last season. Continuing the proud traditions that held us together as a team all this while.

Sometimes we fail to acknowledge the importance of a great goalkeeper. They were usually hidden away from the spotlight while other players absorbed all the attentions. Last week's match between Dettol FC & F&F saw two goalkeepers performing very well and both of them should be acknowledge as the best player in the field.
Unlucky that their performance was not recorded but I think their efforts deserve as much credit as these saves in the video below.

Yes its back!.. and this time the target is Dettol's El Capitano Amer Tevez . The shouting and resilient winger whose passion outshone others to almost single handedly build up the Dettol squad and maintains its tradition.

Current speculations suggest that his title as the skipper of the team is in jeopardize as Dettol FC is currently in bid to try to make their star GK Adli to stay at the club by making him the captain of the team.

However the outcome of the current issue I can only wish him all the best and may he enjoy the pictures as much as I do.

The past 4 days I joined Kipas Lipas FC "secret training" in Pulau Perhentian Kecil. The event consist of physical and mental training such as swimming with the shark, night sumo with mates & mosquitos, spot the top(less) to sharpen the eyesight and last but not least IQ challenge by Sir Nashriq.

It was a tiring but indeed a satisfying training session as I think I manage reduce the size of my Deuter
"pouch bag" a couple of milimeters and also decline my already in recession wallet.

We'll see how it goes in the next match this coming wednesday.

Today Dettol will start their MMU champions league adventure this trimester against the once mighty Phlamze.As u might have known, Dettol is the kind of team that is proud of its traditions and characters but somehow always fail to live up to expectations. So this time..Are we gonna see improvements? Will the mediocre step up? or will they forever be blowing bubbles?

I was looking around the review of the recent UEFA champions league matches(Here) and has encountered one interesting thing that maybe all of us MMU-ians can learn about What has caught my attention was the amount of passes these teams created, its inhuman!(checkout Barca & Arsenal) and to top it of most of these high profile teams only have a small percentage of
bad passes, insane..

If u noticed, none of them "miskicked","misaimed","misqueued" or "pengkaud" their passes more than 25% of their overall passing rate.

Maybe..just maybe ek? teams in MMU especially the so-called-mediocre ones(Dettol!) can improve their game by trying to increase their passing amounts and effectiveness.

Three days ago the long awaited UEFA champions league 2nd round went underway with a funny moment as Reina demonstrated his "KickSlipAfewTimes" skill during Real Madrid vs Liverpool match. However, what happened during Arsenal vs Roma was "classic". Toure and Gallas are the main jokers in this event but the rest of the Gunners also played their part by not noticing the absence of their friends. Very Good..

MMU footballers are blessed with beautiful girls. Its pretty common to see these pretty, god blessed creatures during our league matches. Today we have Ms. Sara Ismail helping to shine our lame blog with her cute smile and playful character. However, mind you that this bird belongs to Mr. Amry "Victor Valdes" Bardan the fast & agile shot stopper for Kachang FC.

During our short interview, she picked out Reza of Dettol and ZulRossi of F&F as the kind of players she enjoys watching.(Reza for his "seluar pendek ketat" and ZulRossi for his long beautiful legs<---I was like whatt??)

When asked to pickup 1 MMU best player for each playing positions, She recalled:

G.K: Adli of Dettol.
Defender: Nadeem of F&F.
Midfield: Aie of F&F.
Striker: A mystery guy who is playing for the so-called "mediocre" team(Dettol!).

Ms. Sara also picks out Kachang, F&F, Mantisz & Wizurai as potential winners for this year but by being a Dettol player, the editor himself couldn't help but to jealously disagree with her.
